I hope you’ll join me at Metuchen Public Library on Tuesday, October 28, from 7 to 8 pm. I’ll be reading an excerpt from That Very Place and giving a talk called “IT’S NEVER TOO LATE: Getting Published When You’re Getting Old.”
The talk focuses on my late-to-the-game publication history:
—That Very Place published shortly after I turned 76
–First story collection, Pieces, published in 2017, when I was 68
–The first of four novels published by Scribner’s when I was 45
–Second novel, Where You Belong, named a finalist for the National Book Award, when I was 48
–Short fiction and creative nonfiction published in more than 50 literary journals since 2017, when I was 68
–Nominated once again for a Pushcart Prize in 2024, when I was 75
Hope you’ll stop by.
